Inotiv offers a fully integrated biomarker evaluation service. New biomarker assays and capabilities are continually developed and validated to meet current research directions. The collective expertise of our biomarker research staff allows PBI to develop and execute unique biomarker strategies.

The below biomarker listing reflects common analytes pertinent to the disease process and translatable to the clinic but is by no means comprehensive.  Please contact us to discuss your custom biomarker needs.

Cardiovascular

Blood-based cardiovascular biomarkers can provide insights into cardiovascular health and therapeutic benefit in a minimally invasive manner. Common blood-based, tissue and histological clinical markers of cardiac injury or stress are available for pre-clinical research.

Blood-Based: cTnI, NT-proBNP, NT-proANP, MCP-1
Tissue Biopsy: mRNA expression (fetal gene program), phospho-SMAD
Histology: Picrosirius Red and Mason’s Trichrome staining for quantitation of fibrosis

Functional Measurements & Models OverviewCardiovascular Disease & Diabetic Complications

Hepatic

Insults to the liver produce robust elevations in many blood and tissue based biomarkers.  The majority of Inotiv biomarker offerings are centered around  evaluating liver fibrosis resulting from hepatic stellate cell activation.

Blood based: AST, ALT, ALP, MCP-1, Bile Acids
Tissue Biopsy: Hydroxyproline, mRNA expression
Histology: Picrosirius Red staining for fibrosis quantitation, macrophage infiltration, α-Smooth Muscle Actin expression

Functional Measurements & Models OverviewHepatic Disease

Pulmonary

Pulmonary biomarkers are best measured from a direct lung lavage. Inotiv offers bronchoalveolar lavage, blood and tissue biomarkers for analysis of pulmonary function.

Bronchoalveolar Lavage: total leukocyte differenential, cytokines, albumin, sICAM-1
Blood-based: sICAM-1
Tissue Biopsy: Hydroxyproline, mRNA expression, TGFβ
Histology: Mason’s Trichrome staining for fibrosis quantitation, macrophage infiltration, α-Smooth Muscle Actin & vWF for medial thickening and vessel musculariztion

Functional Measurements & Models OverviewPulmonary Disease

Renal

Urinary biomarkers are a convenient and widely employed means to gauge kidney health or disease. Inotiv offers urinary, blood and tissue biomarkers for analysis of renal function.

Urinary: Albumin, Protein, Creatinine, Cystatin-C, KIM-1, NGAL, Osteopontin, MCP-1, NAG,
Blood-based: Creatinine, BUN, Electrolytes, NGAL, MCP-1, FGF-23, PTH, Cystatin C
Tissue Biopsy: Hydroxyproline, mRNA expression, phospho-SMAD, TGFβ
Histology: Picrosirius Red and Mason’s Trichrome staining for fibrosis quantitation, macrophage infiltration, α-Smooth Muscle Actin expression

General & Other

Cells: Hematology 5-Part White Blood Cell differential (Monocytes, Lymphocytes, Neutrophils, Basophils, Eosinophils), Flow Cytometry for leukocyte subpopulations
Bead Based Multiplex: Customizable cytokine/chemokine and mRNA expression panels.
Western Blot: nNOS, iNOS, eNOS, pSMAD, pMYPT, and rapid evaluation & validation of targets as needed.
