Noel Horton, Ph.D.

Noel Horton, Ph.D., has served as senior director of toxicology for Inotiv since 2021. He is responsible for ensuring that the Inotiv team under his leadership has the facilities, equipment, and personnel we need to perform optimally. In addition, he guarantees that all procedures and methods conform to scientifically and regulatory sound standards. This means he is always up to date on the latest development in regulations and best practices, ensuring our projects meet the current requirements. He also reviews all related scientific articles and news releases, including Inotiv research, to confirm their accuracy. Beyond reviewing reports for compliance, Dr. Horton is an accomplished scientist and study director, a duty he continues to perform on an as-needed basis, drawing on his 25 years of experience.

Dr. Horton has excelled in the field of toxicology even before joining Inotiv, starting with earning his Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1996. He followed with a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas, Austin, before moving into industry in 1998, serving as a senior scientist in toxicological sciences and development at Park-Davis Pharmaceuticals. He then spent time at both Pfizer and Eli Lilly. At Eli Lilly he worked as senior toxicologist of nonclinical safety assessment for three years, then he worked for seven more years as a principal research scientist in the same area. He went abroad, eventually serving as an associate professor at Mongolia International University. He returned to the United States in 2014 to join Charles River Laboratories for seven years, ultimately becoming a senior principal research scientist of general toxicology. Now he has transitioned to become part of Inotiv’s team as senior director of toxicology, building on his expert background in the field.
